Building the AI Workforce: WCTC’s Vision for Wisconsin and the Midwest

IBAW is pleased to announce that Rich Barnhouse, President & CEO and Laura Krohn, Chief of Staff will be our speakers at our monthly meeting on July 17, 2026.

WCTC is advancing a comprehensive, applied approach to artificial intelligence that is grounded in real-world industry needs, strong partnerships, and clear workforce pathways across Wisconsin and the Midwest. WCTC’s strategy was intentionally designed to cut through misconceptions, demonstrating that AI is not a job replacer but a job creator that augments human capability and drives demand for new, higher-skilled roles. Unlike media narratives, WCTC’s work reflects the practical reality: AI adoption in manufacturing and other industries is pragmatic, workforce-centered, and essential to regional economic competitiveness.

    Overview:

What tools are available to make individual and group problem-solving easier?

How can I involve others in the decision-making process? How do I get to the bottom of an issue?

Individuals and organizations alike are faced with many choices and an overload of information that can make decision-making quite a challenge. Decisions are best made at the level at which they will be executed. To gather the right data, analyze it, involve the right people and resources and come

to a good decision all takes time. Sometimes this seems impractical, even impossible.

This session highlights several different problem-solving tools and methods for gathering and analyzing data to make the process efficient and interactive. Decisions often need to be made quickly or under pressure, which can lead to stress on individuals and teams. Learn to apply practical principles that can minimize stress that impedes sound decision-making.

At the end of this session, you will be able to:

    • Use defined processes to solve challenging problems

    • Apply decision-making techniques to reach more sound decisions
    • Apply principles for controlling stress and worry that can get in the way of making good decisions and solving problems

IBAW Members Only | Free to Attend | Registration Required
